Fundraising strategy

We are starting from scratch to raise the money to buy, refurbish and run The Lamb for the local community.

Our strategy has different elements: a Community Share Offer, major donations, local fundraising events to cover incidental expenses, and a range of other ways we can fund this initiative over the next year or so. We will always be open about how much we've raised and what the money is being spent on.

Community shares

Selling community shares in The Lamb is likely to be the way we raise the majority of the money needed to buy the pub (and its car park and garden), modernise and refurbish the building and turn it into the best possible asset for the local community. You can be a shareholder. It's early days and details are still be developed, but you can find out more here.

Major donations

We are already in discussions with potential donors and investors - companies and individuals - who can achieve their legacy and social value objectives through supporting this important community initiative. If you'd like more details on the options and significant tax benefits available, please contact us for a confidential, no obligation conversation.

Fundraising events

Our brilliant, creative team of fundraising volunteers are already at work! They are organising a series of fundraising events which will help to cover the day-to-day, incidental expenses of setting up the Community Benefit Society, the community share offer, and the costs of professional advice needed, etc. See our upcoming events here.

Did someone say merch?

Yes, soon you will be able to buy fab and funky merchandise to promote our community pub campaign - just in time for Christmas! All profits will go directly into our fundraising pot. Come back soon to check out our online shop.

Donations

We are very grateful for any one-off donations or other support from the local community. For example, we have an offer from the Stoke Goldington Village Hall committee to use the hall free of charge for any important community meetings.

Commercial loans

If necessary, we will also look at the options for commercial loans and other sources of finance - but all this will need to be considered very carefully because of potential impacts on The Lamb's longer term financial viability.

What is your fundraising target?

We are aiming for at least £400K. We believe this can cover a realistic bid for The Lamb (including the pub itself, car park and garden) plus the Stamp Duty and initial refurbishment costs. In addition, local fundraising events will help us cover incidental costs, including the membership subscription to Plunkett UK, etc.

Can I purchase community shares in The Lamb today?

Not yet. We are still in the process of setting up the community share offer. More information will be coming very soon, including the date of a very important community meeting to launch the share offer.
