7 July 2026 - Negotiations reach a new stage

We have entered a new stage in our negotiations to buy The Lamb pub and save it for the local community.

Following important changes in the law, encouragement from CAMRA and our local MP, and the steering group’s continued contact with The Lamb’s owners and their agents, we have entered a new stage in our negotiations to buy the pub and save it for the local community.

For us, this will involve commissioning a full and detailed structural survey of the building and costing of repairs. This survey is something we can afford to do, thanks to everyone’s support with fundraising. Thank you!

We suspect the property will need a lot of work, but once we know the accurate cost of this, we can factor that into negotiations with more confidence, and into the new pub’s business plan.

As you will know, our original offer (made last October) was rejected, but we remain hopeful that recent discussions and agreements with the owners will bring new momentum to negotiations.

In the meantime, fundraising continues at full blast:

  • Friday Night Bar – we have a few weeks of fundraising left, before this reverts back to the Village Hall Committee again. Please come along to enjoy the food, drink and social buzz.

  • Sunday 12 July – Car Boot Sale, 11am to 3pm.

  • Friday 17 July – Lamb Sessions band night, with Hazard back by popular request. Free for all the family.

  • Sunday 19 July – World Cup Final screening.

  • Saturday 19 September – Lamb sessions band night.

You may also have seen the first examples of The Lamb merchandise starting to appear.

Steering Group members paid privately for T-shirts to be made, and gave some to the amazing band of volunteers who give up their time for free to run the bar on our fundraising nights. The T-shirts have proved to be very popular, and a lot of you have asked where you could buy one too.

So we will go ahead, get more, and put them into the Store area of this website. We’ll let you know when that’s live.

As always, huge thanks go to everyone who is supporting us this summer. The World Cup match nights have been fun, lively and family-friendly throughout, and band nights are also very well supported.

We know that sometimes progress may feel slow, but that is to be expected with a campaign like this. We are getting there, bit by bit!
