17 November 2025 - The campaign continues
We were told to expect this, but our first financial offer in October to the owners of The Lamb has sadly been rejected. What happens next?
Last month, we made a formal bid to buy The Lamb (the pub, garden and car park) but have now heard back from the estate agent that the owners have rejected that offer.
It was not entirely unexpected, even though we know our financial calculations are rock solid (informed by specialist RICS commercial property and pub valuations and expert land use planning advice).
The team at Plunkett UK who have been advising us tell us that it does take time to get a pub into community ownership, and there will be many stages along the way. So it’s disappointing, but not a blow. We are continuing our dialogue with the owners and their agents.
What happens next? The campaign continues full blast. Nothing is on hold!
Our business plan is well developed and proves to us that a community pub is financially viable. Our fundraising events are proving a huge success. We know there is extensive support from the local community to pursue the vision for the ‘New Lamb’, and you’ve told us to get on with it, so we are.
We are holding an Open Meeting for everyone on Thursday 22 January.
Come to Stoke Goldington Village Hall to find out more about our plans, get an update on our progress and have all your questions answered. It’s free to attend and will be held early evening (more details to follow soon). Please put the date in your diary.
And our next fundraising event (after the Error 404 band night on 29 November) will be on New Year’s Day – festive drinks and food after the traditional football match which is held every 1 January on the rec.
This used to be a custom every year, meeting in the pub after the footie. So for now, we’ll do it in the Village Hall instead.
Bring your friends (and hangovers) and let’s start the year with a taste of New Lamb hospitality!
