12 October 2025 - An update from the steering group

Thank you to everyone who has supported us so far. An offer to buy The Lamb and its land has now been submitted to the owners of The Lamb - we hope they will accept it.

A confidential bid letter has now been sent to Westone Prospectors Ltd, the sellers of The Lamb pub in Stoke Goldington, and their agents.

The expression of interest confirms our formal request to purchase Lots 1 and 2, comprising the pub building itself, plus the car park and garden. The bid is made subject to survey, and also made in advance of a formal 'subject to contract' offer which would be contingent upon us raising sufficient funds.

Obviously, the amount being offered is confidential at this stage. But it is based on a very robust independent RICS valuation which the steering group paid for earlier in the year.

We are only seeking agreement in principle at this point.

Of course, the sellers may decline. In which case, we will need to be patient and just keep trying.

But if the owners accept the offer (which we hope they will), we can then proceed as quickly as possible to the next stage - which will include setting up the Community Share Offer and launching this to the local community this autumn.

In the meantime, thank you to everyone who is supporting our fundraising efforts!

The fundraising events - including today's Tombola at the Country Style Craft and Vintage Fayre at Stoke Goldington Village Hall and a great band night on 29 November - have been organised by a brilliant team of volunteers. All money raised will help us set up the Community Benefit Society and the Community Share Offer and help with the costs of the professional advice we need.
