3 September 2025 - Fundraising helper needed

We need another helper to work with us to raise the money needed to buy and refurbish the pub on behalf of the community so it can reopen next year

MK City Council has accepted our right to bid for the pub, under the Community Right To Bid rules. So now we now enter a very critical period (until 22 January 2026) when we can fundraise, consider a suitable bid and get a business plan together to buy and run the pub for the community.

The pub is on sale for £550,000. That's £350,000 for the pub itself and £200,000 for the land (car park and garden).

Any community bid for The Lamb will be for both plots together as a single entity - the pub, with its car park and beer garden. Read about our vision for The Lamb here.

We are following the tried and tested fundraising strategy recommended by Plunkett UK, which means that each of the Steering Group now has specific role:

  • Fraser Bull – looking into whether we qualify for loans

  • Julia Smyth – helping manage our work to apply for grants

  • Liz Male – managing communications, media and liaison with our local MP

  • Nick Allen – chairing the group and managing our liaison with Plunkett, which will guide us as we set up a Community Share Offer and tax-efficient Enterprise Investment Scheme

  • Richard Wimmer – approaching potential major donors

  • Stacey Rawlings – advising on planning issues and managing liaison with MK City Council

HELPER NEEDED!

Many local residents have expressed a wish to be involved in supporting the community pub. Right now we need one more helper to join the Steering Group to help us coordinate our fundraising activities. Could this be you?

We need someone who enjoys exploring new ideas and coming up with creative solutions. Someone with energy and a strong sense of purpose, who feels they would like to get more engaged with the local community as part of the Steering Group team. Perhaps you have fundraising, sponsorship or sales experience? That would be great, but is not essential. All you really need is the time and willingness to help.
